SURREY FA SATURDAY PREMIER CUP SECOND ROUND
CHUFC 1 - 0 WANDSWORTH BOROUGH
GOAL: BAILEY ELLIS
We actually started quite well and had a couple of early chances that we could have done better with and at that point my early assessment was that we would be comfortable winners. When we took the lead after 15 minutes it only reinforced that belief and I expected to have full control of the game. To the visitor's credit they got themselves into the game and were unfortunate not to get an equaliser before the break. Right on the half-time whistle, there was what should have been a turning point when Wandsworth's goalkeeper saw red meaning that the second half would be played against 10 and with a goal advantage.
We spoke at the break about making the pitch big and keeping possession, but somehow, we managed to do none of that and made the game look like we were a man light. Wandsworth totally dominated the half, creating and missing a number of opportunities that had they taken, they would have been deserved winners.
I guess from time to time these games happen and we have had our fair share of losses when we played well so this time it was our turn to benefit giving us a quarter-final place where we will come up against a very good Nottsborough side.
Our attention is now back to the SCFL league where we continue our series of away games with a trip to Billingshurst on Tuesday night, where we hope we can keep the momentum going to remain in touching distance of the playoffs.
