GAFFER ON THE ALFOLD GAME

GAFFER ON THE ALFOLD GAME

Tracy Dale22 Mar - 10:45

From his sun lounger in Gran Canaria!

ALFOLD 1 - 6 CHUFC
Goals: Bailey Neil-Gray, John Fouracre, Kai Neil-Gray scored 2, Bailey Ellis, and Darrell Agyemang

My take on Tuesdays away win at Alfold comes from a very different perspective having been absent from the game whilst taking a week’s break in the glorious sunshine of Gran Canaria.

The holiday is fantastic and some sun, at last, is most welcome but following the teams fortunes whilst in an Indian restaurant was something different and not something I would want to do too often.

News of our opener came somewhere between the poppadoms and main course and Andy’s message said it was through Bailey Neil-Gray who is playing extremely well but as a right back I wasn’t sure it was necessarily correct. It was definitely good news and the 2-0 update with a time stamp of 42 with a headed goal from John Fouracre certainly made my mind up that another Cobra was needed, but still left a slight doubt that all this information was totally accurate.

I was told we had reached half time but that the performance wasn’t good although the language used was a bit more blunt, only to have 2 almost immediate messages saying it was 3-0 and then 4, both scored by Kai.

This was now time for me to relax and pay a bit more attention to the Chicken Vindaloo, although such was the frequency of the updates that didn’t go uninterrupted. I was aware that we had made some changes and the next news of a goal still left me momentarily perplexed as it was listed as Bailey. Surely our full back hadn’t scored again but it made sense that it was Bailey Ellis this time.

It was now really good when the phone pinged as I settled in fully fed and watered but it just shows that you don’t count your chickens as suddenly, we had somehow conceded. I later found out that it was a bit of a faux pas from Andrew Osei who was apparently tackled. Who knows.

I did get told it was 6 this time through Darrell and all in all that’s a great result. I wouldn’t recommend this as the best way to follow your teams 90 minutes but it was the best option available in Gran Canaria and something I have to do all again on Saturday!
